Amazon Music Returns as HMA22 Headline Sponsor
The Heavy Music Awards is proud to welcome back Amazon Music as the headline sponsor for a third consecutive year at the sixth annual ceremony recognising the year’s best in rock and metal.
Following rapid growth since its launch in 2017 and a staggering 1.4 million public votes in 2021, the HMAs is now firmly established as the world’s leading awards programme for rock and metal.
HMA22 winners will be announced at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on Sunday 5 June to a packed room of fans, artists and industry. The event will be broadcast exclusively on YouTube on Thursday 9 June at 8pm BST.
The performing line-up for the event will be announced in the coming months.
After an industry panel of almost 700 nominated their favourites in each category from 2021 to create the shortlists, public voting for this year’s event is now open. With fans’ votes the only deciding factor in who wins, this is set to be another great democratic celebration of the entire heavy music landscape.
Heavy Music Awards co-founder Andy Pritchard said, “We have hugely enjoyed partnering with Amazon Music since 2020 to keep building the HMAs into a globally recognised brand. Their team works incredibly hard to grow rock and metal, providing a fantastic service for artists, whether they’re still emerging or already an established heavyweight, which obviously ties in perfectly with our own philosophy. We’re excited to expand on our work together over the last two years to make HMA22 the biggest and best show yet.”
Elise Cobain, Senior Music Programmer, Rock, at Amazon Music added, “We’re really excited to be teaming up with the Heavy Music Awards for a third year. It’s been another amazing year for heavy music with some excellent albums and moments from established and newer acts alike, alongside the brilliant output of creatives from across the scene. I’m looking forward to finding out who fans have voted for at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on 5th June.”
Finalists will be announced at 2pm GMT on Wednesday 9 March, when public voting will also open.
