A democratic process, because it matters
The Heavy Music Awards process is simple.
At the beginning of each year, several hundred members of the music industry are invited to nominate their favourites from the previous calendar year in each of our open categories. These nominations are then tallied up to create shortlists for each category. The public then votes on each category, which decides the winners. As an organisation the HMAs have no say whatsoever in who gets nominated or who wins.
