Heavy Music Awards 2020 Moves Online, Premieres on Twitch Thursday 3 September

New look set-up to feature exclusive, full live performances by The Hunna, Holding Absence, Heart Of A Coward, Wargasm, Coldbones and HAWXX.

Due to the ongoing global situation, the fourth annual Heavy Music Awards will now take place online, premiering on Twitch from 8.30pm BST on Thursday 3 September.

The show will be presented live from the Heavy Music Awards’ London offices by Kerrang! Radio presenters Sophie K and Jon Mahon.

Amazon Music celebrates its first year as headline sponsor of the HMAs by presenting both the Best Album and Best UK Band awards, while further categories are backed by the likes of Ticketmaster, O2 Forum Kentish Town, eOne, Primordial Radio, Moshhh, AfterLive Music and Subfrantic.

In addition, the event will feature full live performances by some of rock and metal’s most exciting artists, filmed at the state-of-the-art AfterLive Music / Subfrantic studios by long-time HMA partners Moshhh.

The live line-up comprises six acts, perfectly representing the broad spectrum of UK rock and metal in 2020, including London’s fast-rising alt-metal quartet HAWXX, instrumental prog metallers Coldbones, industrial-tinged punk outfit Wargasm, and much-loved metal heavyweights Heart Of A Coward.

Following a recent headline run that saw them fill London’s Scala, Welsh four piece Holding Absence will bring their soaring choruses to the HMA20 stage, warming things up nicely for headliners The Hunna. Fresh from recording their latest EP ‘I Wanna Know’ in LA with legendary producer John Feldmann – which features a guest appearance by Blink-182’s Travis Barker – the band most recently electrified London with a sold out headline show at O2 Academy Brixton.

Prior to the main event, the official pre show will be hosted by Sophie K and Jon Mahon from 8.30pm BST, while the official after show will begin at 10.30pm exclusively on the Primordial Radio Twitch channel, with presenters Moose and Pete welcoming live guests to chat about the winners and performances.

HMAs co-founder Dave Bradley said, “The adversity facing live music right now made us even more determined to keep the HMAs alive. We believe it’s more important than ever to shout as loud as we can about the exceptional talent across heavy music – from the artists to the hard working teams behind the scenes – and we are proud to do our part to keep the wheels turning until normality returns.”

The Heavy Music Awards will be streaming on Twitch from 8.30pm BST, Thursday 3 September 2020.

The Fever 333 Set to Headline Heavy Music Awards 2018

California’s incendiary crossover sensation The Fever 333 are set to headline the second annual Heavy Music Awards at London’s KOKO on 23 August, with support from Milk Teeth, Black Peaks and Coldbones.

The trio – which features former letlive. vocalist Jason Aalon Butler, ex-The Chariot guitarist Stephen Harrison and drummer Aric Improta, who also features in instrumentalists Night Verses – recently made their European debut at Download Festival, packing out the Avalanche stage and putting on one of the most energetic and memorable shows in the festival’s history. With a powerful socio-political message and the music to back it up, the band have rapidly picked up critical acclaim and are set to bring the curtain down on HMA18 in style.

Main support on the night are Milk Teeth. In between crossing their fingers as finalists in the Best UK Breakthrough Band category, the Stroud quartet will be bringing a huge grunge/punk party as main support with cuts from their twin EPs ‘Be Nice’ and ‘Go Away’.

Second on, Rise Records’ Black Peaks – who will be showcasing songs from their upcoming sophomore album ‘All That Divides’. Having welcomed the band to HMA17 as finalists in the Best UK Band category, we could not be more excited to have them onstage for a full set this time out.

Opening proceedings at KOKO are Kent’s instrumental progressive metal outfit Coldbones, who’s recent debut album ‘Where It All Began’ has been picking up rave reviews across the board. Bassist Nick Suchak said, “We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this incredible night, alongside some of the most exciting bands around at the moment. The team behind the HMAs are doing an amazing job of creating something very special. See you there!”

And if that’s not enough for you, we’ve got an afterparty hosted by the very wonderful Emo Night UK, with guest DJs ready to take the night off into the early hours.
