Jessica Acreman grew up surrounded by music thanks to her parents’ love of rock n roll and mix tapes, always blessed with the likes of Alice Cooper, Rammstein, The Clash, Queen, Blur and Madonna on every road trip. This left her standing with a fairly eclectic taste – she always knew she had to work in music. It was never an option not to. Jessica is from Cardiff and studied physics there too so Metros and Clwb Ifor Bach were regular haunts before moving to Dubai to work at a horse riding club. In her free time she took on every single digital and marketing internship she could. This exposed her to MTV Arabia, Virgin Radio Dubai and charity work at the Emirate’s work camps. In between all of this somehow she managed to find time for brunch, beach and Rock Bottom – Dubai’s “premier” rock club. Since moving to London Jessica has done time at Kerrang!, Front (behind a keyboard not in front of a camera), Punktastic, Bring The Noise, Artrocker, and Action Aid’s “Bollocks To Poverty” Reading Festival campaign before taking the plunge into the major label pool. She initially dipped her toes at Warner Music in the D2C team working with Roadrunner, WB and Fueled By Ramen on the likes of Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Marmozets, and Biffy Clyro. During this time she also co-founded Merch Mouth to do something constructive with her band merch obsession. Next steps took her to Universal in 2014 working with Polydor, Capitol, and Dirty Hit Records, managing and developing UK eCommerce.
“I’m beyond ecstatic to be involved with the Heavy Music Awards! The alt-music scene is a force to be reckoned with and it’s incredible that such an incredible platform now exists to shine a light on everyone and everything who make it so special.”
